Stainless steel 201 and 202 austenitic chromium-nickel-manganese alloys are a lower cost alternative to commercially used Cr-Ni stainless steels such as 301 and 304. Type 201 (1% Nickel) and Type 202 (4% Nickel) stainless steel can be used in moderately corrosive environments. These grades are widely used as a substitute to 304 grade stainless steel in India, for many moderate corrosion environments.
